In the wild world of civilian jobs, building connections is a key to success. If your transition is coming up or you’re a recently transitioned veteran already, three organizations are putting together a program to help you do just that.
Exelis Action Corps has put together a “Leadership Development Program for Veterans” through its corporate volunteer service program, working with Korn/Ferry International and the Points of Light Community Blueprint to provide veterans with three days of intense training.
Experts in leadership development will work with veterans on how to take the skills they learned in the military and leverage them in the civilian world. After the program ends, veterans will be able to take part in offsite, online, integrated courses and individual coaching over four months. This type of leadership training not only gives veterans a solid basis to work from, but continuing support as they try to use newly-learned skills in the real world.
There are no requirements for application except that you be a servicemember who is currently leaving or a veteran who transitioned within the past two years. Interested service members and veterans should apply at www.pdinh.com/lib/LDP.html. For more information about the program, send questions to LDP@pointsoflight.org.
